The series originally aired on NBC from September 12 1959 to January 16 1973 and unlike many other programs of its era it was filmed in colour from the outset a decision meant to help Bonanzas sponsor RCA sell more color television sets.Ben Cartwright was the wealthy owner of a large ranch called the Ponderosa. The son of Bens pal decides to sell the ranch. Added to their troubles is an unscrupulous land baron bent on destroying the Cartwrights by adding diseased cattle to their herd. The "Texas Fever" spreads which could eventually wipe out every cattle ranch in Texas!Clay FeetBilly moves in with the Cartwrights after his mother dies. Unaware that his father is in prison the boy believes he will come for him. Ironically the father and another convict escape from prison and come for Billy. Hoss confronts the escaped convict and kills him. Now Hoss must come face-to-face with the boy.
